About Marcus Cai

I studied psychology and got into design through music production and the web, building and tinkering with websites in the early days.

Over the past decade I've built products that connect people: search at Roblox that helped players find the right experience, messaging at Meta that brought businesses closer to their customers, and virtual reality at Oculus that felt more social. Now I'm at Zillow working on the shopping journey, helping buyers find their way into a newly built home.

I'm drawn to solving the most ambiguous challenges. The different domains I've worked in don't share an orbit, but they end up greatly shaping each other. Lately, I've been discovering thoughtful ways of integrating AI into how I build, without losing the parts of design that I enjoy the most.

I stay recharged by exploring new places with my family, building a lot of side projects, and experimenting with music production.
